Microtrauma
Microtraumas are tiny injuries to the muscle fibers that occur during intense strength training, especially during eccentric movements. These micro-injuries are a natural part of Muscle building. The body repairs and strengthens the affected areas, which ultimately leads to increased strength and muscle mass.
Microtraumas can cause short-term muscle soreness, but they are a desired training stimulus as long as they are accompanied by sufficient muscle regeneration.
