Hypertrophy Training
Hypertrophy training aims to promote muscle growth by increasing the cross-sectional area of the muscle fibers. Typically, this is done with moderate weights (approximately 65–80% of the 1RM) and 6–12 repetitions per set.
The key is high mechanical tension combined with sufficient training volume and often training close to muscle failure. This type of training is a mix between strength and endurance focus and can include elements from both maximal strength training and endurance training.
Hypertrophy training is especially popular in strength training and fitness to improve both appearance and performance.
