Planks

Planks are isometric exercises that primarily target the abdominal muscles, core muscles, and lower back muscles. Unlike dynamic exercises such as squats or deadlifts, the focus here is not on movement but on maintaining a stable position, which particularly promotes healthy spinal stability. Planks are ideal for preventing lower back overstrain and serve as a valuable supplement to complex movements like rowing or shoulder press.

In the classical form, the body is held in a straight line from elbows to toes, with any deviation corrected immediately by the core muscles. At the EISENHORN strenght station S, planks can also be performed in numerous variations using the included grip bands. This allows even advanced athletes to increase the challenge by integrating pulling or pushing forces into the static position. Examples include variations such as plank jacks or plank-to-pike.
