Sarcopenia
Sarcopenia describes the age-related loss of muscle mass and muscle strength. This process often begins gradually around the age of 30 and accelerates in older age if not actively counteracted. Strength training is the most effective method against sarcopenia, as it stimulates muscle protein synthesis and maintains both strength and functionality. Regular physical activity, combined with a protein-rich diet, can significantly slow down muscle loss and improve quality of life in older age.
