With its special design, the patented system from EISENHORN offers a technology that is otherwise reserved for expensive specialized equipment: VRT – Variable Resistance Training. Experienced strength athletes and professional athletes have appreciated the decisive advantage of this function on training success for decades.
The full effect of training with VRT is particularly evident in the basic exercises.

The weight is generated on the EISENHORN by an innovative piston. The weight generated by the piston, feels exactly the same as a classic device with weight plates. This means kilos in concentric as well as eccentric direction – adjustable via 2×12 steps between 4 and 112 kilos.
Maximum utilization of the muscles
In the lower levels (1-7) the weight is constant during the movement. So exactly the same as other devices with weight plates. In the upper weight range (from level 8) the decisive difference comes into play: the principle of the rising force curve is taken into account. This means that the weight increases slightly during the movement. This will give you better muscle utilization throughout the entire range of motion and therefore a higher impact with each workout. The positive effect of this function is particularly evident in the basic exercises (Big 5) such as deadlifts, squats and bench presses, as it meets the special requirements of the movement sequences.
Train like the pros
“VRT creates an indescribable feeling and ensures that the muscle is optimally utilized over the entire range of motion,” says world champion in natural bodybuilding and personal trainer Manuel Guyer, who is one of EISENHORN’s enthusiastic customers.
Experienced strength athletes have long been familiar with the effect of the rising strength curve. For example, professionals train with chains on the barbell, which provoke exactly this effect. The weight we can move depends on the joint angle. The force that can be applied during an exercise varies over the range of motion. This creates a theoretically optimal force curve for each movement. Taking the ascending strength curve into account is particularly effective for the most important basic exercises.
Everyone wants to get the most out of their workout with every repetition. This is achieved by maintaining the overload in the upper half of the movement. To achieve this, the weight must increase over the range of motion. Research on training with VRT has shown that using this modality in training is a safe way to significantly improve strength and speed in the exercises mentioned.
The force values of the EISENHORN pistons
The training weight on the EISENHORN is adjusted via 2×12 levels. The standard piston 12 offers 4 to 51kg, the stronger piston 26 up to 112kg weight.
