Subscapularis

The subscapularis is the largest muscle of the rotator cuff and is located on the inner side of the shoulder blade, directly against the chest. Its primary function is the internal rotation of the upper arm as well as the stabilization of the shoulder joint. It is especially active when the arms are brought in front of the body or moved inward against resistance. The subscapularis supports all pressing movements in which the arms push forward or downward against resistance. At the same time, it ensures that the shoulder remains securely anchored in the joint during dynamic movements.
