Hamstrings

The posterior thigh muscles – consisting of the biceps femoris, semitendinosus, and semimembranosus – are known as the hamstrings and act as antagonists to the quadriceps. Their main task is to bend the knee and extend the hip.

Especially during running, jumping, or leg strength exercises, the hamstrings are highly active. On the EISENHORN strength station, the thigh muscles can be specifically targeted with exercises such as leg curls, which address the back of the thighs. Strong hamstrings protect against injuries, improve leg balance, and are a crucial part of a holistically trained lower body.
