Martina Strähl is one of Switzerland's most successful mountain and long-distance runners.
In 2015, she won the world title in the long-distance mountain running at the Zermatt Marathon and simultaneously took team gold with Switzerland, making her a double world champion. She was already a European mountain running champion in 2009 and 2011.
She was also among the national leaders on the road. With her marathon best time of 2:28:07 hours, she achieved seventh place at the 2018 European Championships in Berlin and started at the 2021 Olympic Marathon in Sapporo.
After a career with ten medals at mountain running world and European championships, she retired from competitive sports in 2024.
