Hypertrophy training

Hypertrophy training targets muscle growth by increasing the cross-sectional area of muscle fibers. Typically, this involves working with moderate weights (about 65–80% of 1RM – maximum weight that can be moved in a single repetition) and 6–12 repetitions per set. It is crucial to have high mechanical tension combined with sufficient training volume and often training close to muscle failure. This form of training is between strength and endurance orientation and can include elements from maximal strength training and strength endurance training. It is particularly popular in strength sports and fitness to improve both appearance and performance.
