Planks

Planks belong to the isometric hold exercises and primarily engage the abdominal muscles, core muscles and lower back muscles. Unlike dynamic exercises like squats or deadlifts , the goal here is not movement, but maintaining a stable position - this particularly promotes healthy spinal stability. Planks are ideal for preventing overtraining in the lower back and as a complement to complex movements like rowing or shoulder press.

In the classic form, the body is held in a straight line between the elbows and toes, with any deviation immediately corrected by the core muscles. At the EISENHORN strength station S or DS , planks can be performed in numerous variations with the included handle straps. This allows even advanced athletes to enhance their performance by integrating pulling or pushing forces into the static position. Examples of this are exercise variations like Plank Jacks or Plank to Pike.
